About Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium
Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium is a council run facility. It was opened to the public in 1974 and is a contemporary well equipped crematorium.
The main crematorium building is surrounded by approximately 9 acres of well maintained gardens comprising lawned areas, trees, shrubs and seating for people wishing to sit and reflect.
The chapel can accommodate up to 150 seated guests. For larger gathering the audio of the funeral service can be broadcast to both the waiting area and chapel entrance.

Disabled access
As you would expect of a modern public building there is disabled access. This includes wheelchair access, a stair lift to exit the building and disabled toilets access.
Additional facilities include induction loops for the hearing impaired and large print and braille service booklets.
Hutcliffe Wood Parking
There is free parking for 50-60 cars including disabled parking close to the chapel entrance.
A modern music system is available in addition to an electric organ.
News
In April 2020 extra storage capacity at Hutcliffe Wood crematorium was made available if required to cope with any increase in deaths. June saw the announcement that charges for funeral services would be reduced because of the reduction in chapel time. The cost has been lowered by £50 to £850.
May saw the maximum number of friends and family allowed to attend a funeral service increased to 10 from just 5. Normally service times are 45 minutes this has been reduced to just 30 minutes.
It was also announced that direct cremations which are unattended funerals, would also be reduced by £50.
Like many other crematoria around the country live streaming (which is normally chargeable) was offered for free so those unable to attend could watch the service.
July saw the welcome news that the maximum number able to attend a funeral would be increased to 25.
