Your questions answered
I’ve been looking at your prices for a simple cremation in Sheffield at Grenoside and notice that it is cheaper than Hutcliffe Wood and City Road, why is that?
The crematorium fee at Grenoside crematorium is lower than the council run crematoria in Sheffield. We pass this difference on to our customers.
We live near Sheffield and want a direct cremation, we will be applying to the DWP to try and claim our funeral costs. Do we have to delay the funeral until we receive the funds?
No you don’t have to delay the funeral. We have helped many families who are struggling to pay for a funeral. We don’t require a deposit or demand payment upfront.
We can carry out a direct cremation or a low cost funeral with a service in Sheffield. We will then wait for payment from the DWP – which is likely to take many months.
Please note however that not everyone is entitled to DWP payment, this is something we can discuss with you.
Our dad recently passed away and because of all the recent lockdown restrictions we have decided to have a direct cremation and hold a memorial service at a later date.
We’re going to scatter the ashes in his garden which he loved very much. We would like to know when the cremation is taking place so that we can have a moment of quiet reflection at home.
Once we have established available dates with the crematorium we will always confirm the date and time with you. When we book a cremation for a family we always ask if there are any particular dates that should be avoided, birthdays for example.
I have chosen Grenoside Crematorium to hold the funeral of my sister and would like to hold the wake there too. Can you arrange this for us?
We will liaise with the crematorium to arrange all aspects of the funeral service itself and would be happy to let them know that you wish to use their catering facilities – the ‘Clock House Tea Rooms’.
However payment and details regarding attendee numbers and specific catering requirements should be arranged between yourself and the crematorium.
They have a maximum capacity of 100 guests in the tea rooms.
About Grenoside Crematorium
Grenoside crematorium in Sheffield opened in 1998, it is located in a picturesque setting and provides the ideal place to hold a funeral service for your loved one.
The large well kept gardens surround the crematorium which has two chapels. The ‘North Chapel’ is the larger of the two chapels and can seat more than 130 attendees. The ‘South Chapel’ provides an option for smaller family gatherings but can still accommodate up to 45 attendees.
Chapel facilities include modern music system which can be used to incorporate those songs that hold important meaning for you and your family. They have a wide selection of material, but should there be anything a little obscure they allow material to be uploaded.
Livestreaming of the funeral service can also be requested. The popularity of this option has increased dramatically over recent months for obvious reasons. The livestream can be viewed via secure website, login details can be sent to those wishing to view in advance of the service.
An online recording of the service can be accessed up to 7 days after the service to allow those who were unable to view on the day a chance to see it, or those who attended to re-watch.
There is also the option of purchasing a professionally edited CD or DVD of the service.
Unlike many crematoria Grenoside offers facilities where you can hold a wake after the funeral service.
