What’s the difference between simple cremation and direct cremation at South Lincolnshire crematorium?
I’m presuming that you’re referring to what we provide as a company. A simple cremation is a low cost funeral with a service. We take your loved one in to our care. On the day of the funeral we will transport them to the crematorium and conduct a funeral service. The service can contain whatever you wish, Leanne will meet with you to discuss what you’d like. Leanne offers her services as celebrant at no charge but you may use whomever you wish.
We will return the ashes of your loved one for free within our coverage area (Yorkshire, Lincolnshire & Nottinghamshire) or arrange for them to be scattered – whichever you prefer.
A direct cremation is an unattended funeral it will not have an mourners. Typically we would perform the cremation in the Hull area and return the ashes to you. If you would like to use South Lincolnshire Crematorium that’s absolutely fine but an extra charge will be payable.
About South Lincolnshire Crematorium
South Lincolnshire Crematorium was opened in 2013 and provides modern facilities in which to say goodbye to your loved one. It’s set in 11 acres of well maintained landscaped gardens. Located on the outskirts of Surfleet village on Gosberton Road close to Spalding, it is surrounded by farmland.
The chapel itself is light and spacious with a clean simple design. It can accommodate up to 100 seated attendees by way of non-fixed seating. The catafalque is positioned at the front and centre of the chapel in a purpose-built recess.
The design has been well thought out, next to the service chapel is a sheltered display area in which mourners can visit after the funeral to look at the floral tributes and comfort family and friends.
Modern audio and video options are available including music system, flat screen television and streaming capabilities. For large congregations in which there is not enough room in the chapel, the service can be broadcast on screens in the lobby, audio can also be broadcast to the covered area outside.
There is also the option of using the organ for live music should it be required. The screen within the chapel can display pictures and video of your loved one which can really add that personal touch.
Funeral service length at South Lincolnshire Crematorium is certainly generous when compared to most other crematoria we visit, service slots are 60 minutes in length, this includes entering and leaving the chapel.

Parking at South Lincolnshire Crematorium
There are approximately 81 parking spaces at the crematorium including disabled spaces located close to the buildings entrance. The car park is located on your right hand side as you make your way down the main driveway.
News
Current restrictions limit the number of mourners allowed in the chapel to 30. Like many other crematoria South Lincolnshire Crematorium is offering free livestreaming of funeral services whilst restrictions remain in place. Usually livestreaming of a funeral would cost £95.
