Your questions answered
We are based in Scunthorpe and want a direct cremation, we don’t mind where the cremation takes place but we would like the ashes returning.
Reply: Instead of Woodlands Crematorium in Scunthorpe we can use one in Hull in order to keep costs down. As an example, this could reduce the cost from: £1820 to £1195. Return of the ashes is included anywhere within Lincolnshire, Yorkshire & Nottinghamshire. Obviously, we would need to confirm your specific requirements in order to give you an accurate quote.
We have contacted a couple of companies regarding a cheap cremation in Scunthorpe. We would like a service but they do not provide a celebrant.
Reply: We would always recommend contacting three or more companies to get a good idea of prices and clarification about exactly what is included. Sometimes prices appear cheap until you look at the ‘extras’. That said however, celebrants are usually not included in funeral directors prices. They are considered a third party cost.
Our ‘cremation with service’ price includes the Simple Cremations Personal Service. Leanne offers her services as celebrant for free.

Reply: The funerals taking place at Scunthorpe Crematorium are listed on-site each weekday. However, we aren’t aware of anywhere online where you can find a list of funerals for the week. It may be best to contact the crematorium, their number is below.
About Woodlands Crematorium
Woodlands Crematorium is located on Brumby Wood Lane in Scunthorpe and opened in 1964. It is the responsibility of North Lincolnshire council. The main building includes offices, chapel and book of remembrance room. Also on the site is Woodlands cemetery which is available for traditional burials.
Currently the maximum number of people allowed to attend a service in Woodlands chapel is 20 and face coverings must be worn.
