Your questions answered
We would like a simple cremation with a service and want a bouquet of our mums favourite flowers placing on the top of the coffin. Do we have to bring the flowers ourselves?
Some people choose to bring the flowers themselves, especially if it’s a small number or a single bouquet. However we are happy to take delivery of the flowers and bring them with us on the day of cremation.
When you order your flowers from your chosen florist simply request that you’d like them to be delivered to us. All we would ask is that you make sure the flowers will be delivered the day before the funeral to ensure that they get to us on time.
If we opt for a direct cremation in Scarborough will you return the ashes in a container suitable for scattering at our own memorial?
Typically ashes are returned in a small cardboard container within which are the bagged ashes.
Some people are happy to scatter the ashes using the provided container, others prefer to use a scatter tube or urn.
Understandably the prospect of handling their loved ones ashes makes some people uncomfortable. We are happy to transfer the ashes in to a scatter tube at no charge should you so wish.
You would need to provide the scatter tube, we sell them at discounted rates to our customers.

News
In early April 2020 Woodlands Crematorium implemented restrictions on what services they would provide and numbers of mourners that could actually attend funeral services in the chapel.
This meant that only close family members could be present. The decision was also taken to close the areas of the crematorium which would normally available to the public, the waiting areas and access to the book of remembrance.
The option of having the service broadcast live online was offered to those who had family unable to attend in person.
Late April saw the announcement that only five mourners would be permitted to attend funerals as part of their revised measures.
