About Alford Crematorium
Alford crematorium opened in 2008 and is located on the outskirts of the town.
The architect responsible for the design is Rosamund Nicholson who won the Built in Quality Award for ‘Best Public or Community Building’. The Built in Quality Awards are a National Government award that recognises good building practices.
We always take the opportunity to have a walk around and take some photos after we’ve done a service here.
The crematorium building itself is situated within 11 acres of well-kept grounds. Large lawned areas, trees and shrubs provide a really nice area in which to stroll and reflect.
There are benches for those looking to stay a little longer and enjoy the peace and quiet.
It’s truly secluded (as you can see from the pictures in our Alford Crematorium gallery) so you really do get a private and intimate ceremony.
It also has one of our favourite chapels. It’s a really bright and uplifting place to hold a service, large windows let the light pour in – we find that some chapels can be quite dark and gloomy.
Approximately 80 people can be accommodated in the chapel.
The staff are always friendly, helpful and ensure things run smoothly.
Alford Crematorium Car park
There is a large gravelled car park to the right of the crematorium as you approach from the driveway. Approximately 100 car parking spaces are available.
Alford Crematorium News
The Crematorium is currently operating under the following restrictions:
Maximum seating of 12 in the chapel. If you supply attendee information at least 24 hours in advance of the service they can increase this number to 18 by arranging the seating in household bubbles.
There is no video/audio broadcast of the service to mourners outside the building, this is to discourage crowds from gathering. However, should you so wish, services can be securely livestreamed.
The crematorium also required the names of all mourners attending – this can be done in advance as not to disrupt proceedings.
